Well... Kris has got me going now. I have to admit, I'm still a little burned out. But at the same time I've gained 5-10 lbs and so I know it's time to get back to business. The hardest part for me right now is not running everyday. Kris and Karen think I need to space it out... so my runs are more "quality" than "quantity." I agree... but getting the psyche up for a run 3 times a week as opposed to 6 or 7 isn't too productive.
Kris did make me get a PowerTap... and Cycling Peaks software. That software is pretty cool, but it just about took an act of God to get it loaded on my Mac. First, I paid 99 bucks for the software download. Then, I saw that "it works with Mac" but ONLY if you install a virtual Windows desktop. So 89 more bucks and I acquired a Parallels download.... only to find out that THEN I needed a Windows XP cd and serial # to make it work. Hmm. And those stupid Dell disks that come shrinkwrapped with your new PC just don't work. Another reason to hate Dell! So... lucky for me a friend at the university let me use the ISU site license and load it up. I do have an ISU issued computer so it wasn't against the rules, even! Yay for me. FINALLY I was able to get Cycling Peaks to open.
The program is pretty sweet. I can log all my workouts... ANYTHING... swim, bike, run.. core, weights, ultimate frisbee! Ha! And working with watts is something I think will be pretty cool (once I figure it out!). The heart rate monitor doesn't work real well on the Powertap, though. I went and bought a new battery tonight. Hopefully that'll make it work. But I'm more inclined to blame the problem on my big boobs. Damn!
The cabin progress is coming along. We have a HOLE now on our property and a few less trees. The timeline is still around Xmas. it's a bummer that it won't be done by Thanksgiving, but at least we'll be able to enjoy the majority of snowmobile season up there in Island Park! The logs will be delivered Monday and it should be weather tight by the end of October. I'll probably head up there again that last week in october... just to take more pics and get my hopes up again! Right now it's not much fun being up there... well, it's always FUN... but it's just a little scary. There's a bear problem up there... and a Grizzly and her two babes have been camping out in and around our pad. Not nice. Damn tourists need to stop feeding the damn bears and leaving their trash out! Ugh. Don't they realize the bears will keep coming back for more... and that's NOT a GOOD thing??? besides, what in the world do those damn people think the bears will do for food on their own when the humans are NOT feeding them? it's sad that the bears are all out of berries and food up high... but if they're treated to watermelon, burgers and chips down low, they'll never look very hard when their up high! Rants.
That's about it! I gotta get off my soapbox.
