Hello...
Well, I'm finally tired of reading all my friends' blogs and not having my own, so I finally caved and decided to make the commitment. We'll see how long it lasts! The picture is me and my hubby Brent at the NASCAR race in Vegas this past spring with 150,000 of our closest friends. "Go Smoke #20."
So I'll begin the journey by filling you in on what's happening in my life! It's Thursday... and I have a triathlon this Saturday. It's the Pocatello Triathlon, and ordinarily I'd be pretty excited about racing, but I'm a little bummed because the deal doesn't seem to be very organized and I'm thinking the race might be a joke. It'll still be a good workout, though, so I'll get pumped up by Saturday around, say, 7:45am! The race is a weird tri. It's pretty short, too. We'll start out with the RUN - about 3.1 miles, then to the BIKE - about 13.5 miles, and then to my favorite leg, the SWIM - a measley 500 yds in a pool. The swim is my strongest leg and ordinarily I can get out to a head start over everyone else...only to see all of them... and many more... pass me in the run! Perhaps the run being first is a good thing! I dunno! I just race against myself anyways. This is my first year doing the things. I always wanted to do them but never had the dedication to commit to training for them. The run always scared me - as it should at my size! But I've lost quite a bit of weight training and I'm happy that I have! This will be my third tri this summer... and I may have one more in me if my buddy Karen can do the one in Rexburg on the 19th. She's a stud... way out of my league, but it'll be fun to go up there with her and get one more dose of athleticism in before school starts.
This past Tuesday I did my first criterium race on my bike! Well... actually, I didn't RACE... I rode. Karen helped me a ton. I think doing those will help me become a stronger rider. Bob and Kris Walker helped me out, too.... Bob made me remove the reflectors from my bike and my saddle bag so I wouldn't look so stupid! :)
Speaking of school. Ugh. Football starts Monday. Two a days. I'm an athletic trainer...so that means we're busy. Classes don't start for two and a half more weeks, but it doesn't matter. Full time work starts Monday so summer is officially "over" - at least in my mind!
I'm working on a deal for ISU... an athletic training education program. Hopefully that will fly. I'd love to get out of HHS... Love the kids and will miss it, but I feel I need something more to stimulate me! :) Happy days!
I'm out.
